Kirinyaga County Governor, Anne Waiguru, has accused Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, of plotting her impeachment.
Speaking on Wednesday, Waiguru said Kibicho who is rumoured to have interest in the Kirinyaga County seat in 2022, has been meeting MCAs at night with the aim of ousting Waiguru.
“He is the one sponsoring MCAs to impeach me on flimsy accusations, I want to tell him to come slow, and wait for me in 2022, the power of people will decide,” Waiguru said.
This development came after seven Kirinyaga MCAs walked out of a Jubilee Party meeting on Tuesday, claiming that they were being coerced to re-think their decision on impeaching the Governor.
The MCAs said they were forced to append signatures to denounce the pending impeachment motion tabled in the assembly by Mutira Ward MCA, David Kinyua Wangui, against their will.
Waiguru is being impeached over corruption related offenses.
