Daystar University is asking qualified individuals to apply for the Vice Chancellor position which it has advertised.
The candidate will take over from James Kombo, who was appointed in an acting capacity late last year after his predecessor Timothy Wachira was suspended following student protests.
Wachira was sacked in June.
Interested candidates should have a PhD from a recognised university with at least 10 years in research and teaching experience at the university level.
“Must have served administratively at the level of Deputy Vice-Chancellor or equivalent for at least five years and published papers in refereed journals,” the school states in its website.
Being a chartered Christian university, the applicant must have evidence of faithful involvement in a local church.
The new VC will be expected to implement, plan, and review the University’s academic resources and programmes.
The applicant will also implement the university’s strategic plan, promote good governance, and efficiently manage the school’s assets and facilities.
Daystar University currently has a student population of 4,999 with two branches. The main campus is located in Athi River and the Nairobi campus is located along Ngong road.
It has six schools which include the school of Arts and humanities, business and economics, science, engineering and health, human and social sciences, communication and law.
