A section of Kalenjin community leaders have dared President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack his Deputy William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday during the burial of Collins Kipyegon Kalya, the son of Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, the leaders claimed Uhuru is using corruption to fight Ruto.
The leaders were led by Senate Majority Leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, his Bomet counterpart Christopher Langat and MPs Oscar Sudi(Kapseret) and Hillary Koskei (Kipkelion).
The legislators challenged the President to solemnise his relationship with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga by dropping the DP and contest another election with Odinga as his deputy.
“President Kenyatta should stop taking us in circles and call a snap election with Odinga as his running mate. That will validate their relationship that has resulted in turmoil,” Koskei said.
Sudi told Uhuru to come out in the open and proclaim that he no longer needs Ruto.“He should say so, that the political marriage is over. Uhuru should not hide behind the much-hyped fight against corruption when he is bringing down Ruto politically,” Sudi declared.
On his part, Murkomen said Uhuru has no power to sack Ruto from the government since the government was formed by Uhuru and Ruto.
“I am ready to face anybody and tell him that he cannot kick us out of a government we fought hard to build. We are tired and we must say it as it is.
“The handshake was a political conmanship with the objective of blocking Ruto from becoming president,” Murkomen said.
